Bring the Kids

In Chicago, those under 21 cannot drink alcohol (duh), but kids of all ages can accompany their parents to establishments serving alcohol. Most of them are restaurants. We've to compiled a list of places that are simultaneously adult and kid friendly so parents aren't left in an endless spiral of FOMO. You really can have it all.

MUSIC SHOWS

Join Mr. Dave in the beer garden at Tavern on Little Fort this summer for brunch and kids tunes at 11am. Little Fort not only has the only beer garden in North Center, but also the only kid-focused music series where parents can enjoy a craft beer or brunch cocktail.

Wilde Bar & Restaurant has a great beer, wine, and spirits list, and has an equally impressive lineup of Italian sodas, Goose Island Rootbeer, and other non-alcoholic treats for the whole family. On a quiet night, borrow a book in the library and read by the fireplace. Kids eat free M-F 4:30-6:30pm.

Crosby's Kitchen is a laid back spot to grab a glass of wine, beer, or a cocktail on the outdoor patio with the whole family.

Dunlays on Clark and Dunlays on the Square are also great options if your kids passionately seek happy hour like you do. Parents can sip affordably on wine, sangria, martinis and other weekly specials while kids enjoy fresh squeezed juices, and free food on weeknights 4:30 - 6pm.

Frasca is the only place where mom or dad can build their own wine flight (Thursdays) while junior eats a free meal (every day, 4-6:30pm).

RJ Grunts gets bonus points for being conveniently located by the Lincoln Park Zoo. The selection of craft beer and milkshakes are equally appealing.

Rockwell’s Neighborhood Grill frequently supports nearby Waters Elementary School. Their menu boasts libations for all ages and preferences, including cider, local craft brews, Intelligentsia coffee, a variety of limeade flavors, and craft sodas.

Touch Move Chess Center is more that a great place for chess players of all ages to participate in classes and tournaments. Every Thursday, Touch Move hosts free lectures and casual pickup games. Sip on complimentary non-alcoholic refreshments and learn your next power move.

WestEnd Bar and Grill in West Loop is a popular restaurant to bring little ones.
