One of Chicago’s newer hidden gems, is the speakeasy, Chicago Magic Lounge. The Lounge will be 2 years old in February 2020. With 3 different performing sections and pre-show small bites and apps you can purchase, combined with specialty cocktails puts you in for a surprising evening!
The Chicago Magic Lounge is located on the northside of Chicago and has the coziest feel to it. Since it is a speakeasy, the outside gives hints of the magical atmosphere that lies inside, however, it is possible for it to be rather unnoticed if you’re just passing by. Once you enter, there are several laundry machines and you are challenged with finding your way inside (we won’t spoil that secret for you though)! Once inside, you’re met with a sleek, yet intimate and cozy bar. Definitely a gem in the city!
Tickets are generally around $45 for the main stage. However, right as you enter, there is always a Magician at the bar, so you don’t need tickets to actually see a magician.
Al James at Chicago Magic Lounge on 11/06/2019
We had the pleasure of meeting Al James, a professional magician and hypnotist from Cleveland, Ohio. Al was performing at the bar while one of the other shows were going on in the auditorium. Al performed several tricks and never once were we not flabbergasted at what he had done to make appear or disappear! He also won a “Citizens Award” from the Chicago Police for hypnotizing a police officer to recall a license plate number for a high profile criminal investigation. You can catch Al at the Chicago Magic Lounge every Wednesday.
The overall atmosphere of the venue is warm and pristine, it’s just like what you would guess a speakeasy would be like in the roaring 20s! The Chicago Magic Lounge is a perfect event for friends, families, and date-spots! They have several small sweets on the menu like truffles, peanut butter bonbons, and more, so you could always win over your date by making it a little more romantic with some truffles and champagne!
