Try a Boozy Steamer in Chicago

Updated April 13, 2018

What's a boozy steamer?

Luckily it has nothing to do with anyone operating a locomotive, or what Urban Dictionary might have you think.

A boozy steamer is a frothy steamed milk drink with flavor and...booze. Like it's cousin the hot toddy boozy steamers are served hot. Thanks to Hogsalt Hospitality, Chicago has multiple destinations to pair boozy steamers with fun and games.

Sawada in West Loop may be known for its Military and Matcha lattes, but customers may also opt for steamed Kurosawa Kimoto Junmai Sake or a boozy steamer such as the Benedictine & Chai. The cozy cafe seats 15 but has enough room for a wooden ping pong table and a vintage Getaway pinball machine.

C.C. Ferns in Humboldt Park has a longer list of boozy steamers including the Whiskey & Cream (Jameson, Baileys, espresso, and almond) and Cuban Latté (rum, caramel, and espresso). Perhaps these two options are best to pair with the cigar collection you can peruse and purchase in the lounge. See the full boozy steamer menu here.

3 Greens Market in River North is a popular destination for meetings, lunches, coworking, and post work drinks. Strawberries and Cream and the White Hot Russian are two of the boozy steamer options, which you can sip while practicing your short game on their mini golf putting green. See the full drink menu here.
