One of the most beautiful things about Chicago is the diversity we have all throughout the city. It’s fun to go explore all of the different neighborhoods in Chicago. We spent a chilly afternoon there and it was so much fun.
Honestly, having the museum right in the middle of a neighborhood is so special. It allows for easy access for everyone and it makes the museum an easy spot to just drop by for a few hours. Even better, the museum is free so you can have fun even during the holiday season!
When we went, they still had the Dia De Los Muertos exhibit up and it was absolutely breathtaking. They had several offrendas up. These are alters that are made to honor loved ones who have passed away, it helps guide them back to visit their families on Day of the Dead. They also had several beautiful art pieces that truly pull at the heartstrings as it relates to our political climate. The exhibit will be open until December 8th, 2019 if you have the chance to catch it.
The museum is set to open a Frida Kahlo gallery in April of 2020 so keep your eyes out for that! Overall, the museum is a gem in this city. It feels smaller than your average museum, but it is filled with so many beautiful art pieces and exhibits that you’re sure to be thinking about long after you leave.
