Dog Friendy Bars and Coffee Shops in Chicago

Dogs ☆ Event Venues ☆ Kids ☆ Work
Chicago is home to thousands of well behaved pups ready to join in on the fun. However, laws restricting where dogs can and cannot go can make it difficult to find a place to go with the whole family. In Chicago, bars and restaurants that serve food are not allowed to have dogs in their dining room. If you're visiting a venue with food, your best bet is a seasonal outdoor patio. Venues that do not prepare food on site may allow pets in and outside, and commonly will also let your bring your own food or order in from local restaurants. Each establishment determines their own policy and has the right to refuse any pup, but we've attempted to create the most comprehensive dog friendly list of bars, restaurants and coffee shops in Chicago - please let us know if we've missed any! Dugan's on Halsted is a dog friendly Irish bar in Greektown - here are two of their regulars, Fred and Lucy, from the Dugan's Facebook Page: River Shannon also allows four legged friends any time of year. Dram Shop in East Lake View allows dogs inside and you can bring in tasty food (like Crisp) with you! Teek, Chicago Rex's Chicago Branch Manager, meets a new friend at Cody's Public House. Cody’s Public House is a neighborhood gem equipped with outdoor grills to have your own impromptu barbecue, darts, pool, bags/cornhole, and sports games on the TVs - all enjoyed in the company of your four legged beast. Driftwood is a pup friendly sports bar pool tables, dart boards, and craft beer on tap. Weeds Tavern has a spacious beer garden: Begyle Brewing Company is a dog friendly brewery boasting board games and a skeeball machine. Bring in your own food and enjoy a beer flight or fill your growler. The branch manager is the unofficial Chicago Skeeball League mascot, here she is wearing her skeeball-themed Baller by Nature Doggy T during a Beglyle skee league night:
Westend Bar and Grill in West Loop has a pup friendly sidewalk cafe: Joe's on Weed hosts a seasonal dog happy hour on Wednesday nights. Moe's Tavern is the only place in Chicago where you can have a flaming shot (the Moe), listen to live music, and challenge friends in foosball. Wilde Bar and Restaurant in Lakeview has a dog friendly sidewalk patio: Red June in Bucktown has a walk up window and outdoor seating, making it the best spot to take down a breakfast burrito, read and sip coffee with your dog in tow.
Lottie's Pub has a seasonal patio, and also sponsored a fundraising event on National Dog Day last year to support dogs and cats in need. Shoes Pub - if your dog could speak, he'd probably tell you that listening to you karaoke is not on his bucket list (woof!) but you can make it happen at Shoes, Chicago's only dog friendly karaoke bar.
