Pool and Billiards in Chicago

Chris's Billiards Portage Park pool hall Chicago

What do Martin Scorsese, Tom Cruise, and Paul Newman have in common? They all went to Chris's Billiards in Portage Park to film The Color of Money. Chris's Billiards in Jefferson Park has 29 9-foot tables and 7 10-foot pool tables and is a great place for players of all skill levels, not just hustlers.G-Cue is also a great spot to learn and has private lessons and custom made cues available for purchase.

Chicago roofdeck pool table at Reggies live

Did you know you can shoot hoops and pool on a roofdeck in Chicago? Reggie's Live (left) is home to Chicago's only outdoor pool table, which is on their seasonal roof deck. If you work up a sweat, you can rinse off in their outdoor shower.

 

 

 

Pressure Billiards has daily specials including free pool and $5 for ladies on Wednesdays. Rack up the good times on 13 9-foot Brunswick tables, and watch sports (including billiards) on the multiple flat screens or 106" HD projection screen. On Tuesdays, you can pair pool and puns during open mic comedy night. This Edgewater pool hall also hosts live music performances and special events.

If you're a fan of smooth shafts and clean balls, Marie's Golden Cue is your home bar. Go on Mondays at 8pm for 10 ball tournaments ($15 buy-in).

City Pool Hall has both APA and amateur leagues on Monday and Tuesday nights, and otherwise tables can be rented by the hour. With 9 pool tables, arcade games including Big Buck Hunter and bubble hockey, and a dog friendly beer garden, this West Town/River West bar has plenty of activities to pair with a full bar and restaurant. If you're and arcade or video game fan, Emporium Bar is another great choice for billiards and other games.

Delilah's (above) has the best whiskey selection to pair with pool, with over 750 selections for all over the world.

Lincoln Park

 

Barrelhouse flat has a pool table in its lounge.

Gold Star Bar has more than pool tables, stop by for a drink and variety show, to view local art, or shoot some pool.

O's Tap in Bucktown has a pool table as well as Super Nintendo, live music and pinball machines:

The Four Treys bar (above) in Roscoe Village has free pool on Sundays. If the table is taken play some darts, board games, or hang out with a local bar dog.

Full Shilling doesn't charge a shilling for pool games - play is always free. In Boystown, Shakers on Clark has a free pool happy hour from 4-7pm Monday through Thursday.

AJ Hudson's (left) is a great place to pair beer with pool, sports and darts.

Serious players should register with the American Poolplayers Association, which is also a great resource for finding affiliated host bars/venues.
